UMTS in 3 x 3 Hours - Part 1: Access Technology & Air Interface
This web based training course comprises the first part of our web based “UMTS System Design Training” trilogy.
As in all INACON web based training courses we integrated several interactive exercises for a perfect learning experience.
- This web based training course addresses the needs of everybody who requires a detailed introduction to the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS).
- The course starts with a consideration of the UMTS network architecture and the migration path from GSM / GPRS to UMTS. This part concludes with a presentation of the major differences between GSM and UMTS.
- The next part covers a thorough and detailed introduction into the CDMA and W-CDMA technologies. We cover all aspects of this fascinating radio transmission technology.
- The course concludes with a detailed consideration of various UTRA-specific issues like channel types, the way of data processing in UTRAN and UE (e.g. transport channel, scrambling, channel multiplexing, etc.).
UMTS in 3 x 3 Hours - Part 2: UTRAN Lower Layer Processing & Protocols
This web based training course comprises the second part of our web based “UMTS System Design Training” trilogy.
- his course addresses the needs of engineers and technicians who already have a basic understanding of the UMTS and its protocols.
- The course starts with a detailed consideration of various physical layer procedures like power control operation or the cell search procedure in UMTS.
- The course continues with a detailed presentation of the various layers of the UMTS protocol stack with a clear focus on the UTRAN. In addition, the course explains the ASN.1 notation and the packed encoding rules (PER).
- The course describes many important procedures in detail, for instance soft and softer handover or RACH access
UMTS in 3 x 3 Hours - Part 3: UMTS Procedures & Selected Scenarios
This web based training course comprises the third part of our web based “UMTS System Design Training” trilogy.
- This course addresses the needs of engineers and technicians who already have a basic understanding of the UMTS and the related lower layer processing.
- The course starts with the presentation of mobility management in UMTS and continues with the introduction and discussion of QoS in UMTS for both, the circuit-switched and the packet-switched domain.
- The course also covers the security concept of UMTS, including the different options for encryption and authentication.
- The course concludes with a detailed presentation and discussion of the most important UMTS scenarios like mobile originating and mobile terminating call establishment, PDP-context activation and deactivation and soft handover.
